Vicuña Stole

 

The Vicuña is the smallest of all the South American Camelids.  Vicuñas are sheared in a complex thanksgiving ritual that is full of mysticism, color and magic to give thanks for such a noble creature. A small amount of hair is shorn from the Vicuña and then it is released unharmed.  The coarse hair is removed by hand and the soft fleece is washed. Techniques used in this process are passed down from one generation to the next.
